The Afro-Modern Dance class is a fun fusion of African and Modern dance genres that is done to African drumbeats. This class will not have live percussion. The African style is drawn upon without explaining the technicalities of the origin, history of rituals associated with it, while the modern style gives references to some of the artists like Martha Graham and Catherine Dunham who codified some of the more contemporary movements from the turn of the century.
Class includes a warm up and stretching and will review some choreography. Wear clothing you are comfortable moving in and bring a water bottle.
Appropriate for Ages 13 and Up. All patrons entering the theater must have a ticket regardless of age. All participants must have a ticket and participate in the class. Observation of the class is not permitted.
