Everglades Imprint at SMDCAC is a performance installation of dance, live music, projections and poetry; an adaptation of the performance created by Dale Andree for Everglades National Park as a result of her fellowship through Artist In Residence In Everglades(AIRIE). Incorporating the photographs and video of Miana Jun, and the sound installation of Gustavo Matamoros, the Lab Theater at SMDCAC will be transformed into the spirit of the Everglades.
“Everglades Imprint” is a multi-dimensional performance that brings audiences closer to the wilderness that borders their neighborhoods. At SMDCAC the event will Interweave factual information from biologists and park rangers with real life stories from Samuel Tommie, citizen of the Seminole Nation and poetry and reflections of the performers. Andree has scripted a journey through the landscape created by the movements of the dancers; movement inspired by the land and informed by the dancers’ experience in the sawgrass. Alexis Caputo, an interdisciplinary artist and creator of Afro Diaries, along with Andree and Tommie will be the narrators for these Everglades impressions.
