Praised in the press as a “popular powerhouse…astonish[ing] audiences and critics [alike]” (Sean Erwin, Artburst Miami), Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami returns to the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center main stage, with the work of four brilliant choreographers, on July 16th & 17th. Driving ballet confidently into the 21st century, this all new program of contemporary sophistication showcases the troupe’s collective humanity, a profound electricity and athleticism, and the timeless, transcendent power of the dance. Featuring world premieres by Guggenheim fellow Helen Simoneau, Miami Dances Choreographer’s prize winner Yanis Eric Pikieris, and more - this is “must see” program!

DDTM/Modern Masters July 6 Dance Talk:

How does a choreographer make magic in an empty studio? Should dancemakers deal with social issues, or follow whatever moves them? We’ll explore what inspires new dance and new choreographers in our next Dance Talk with SMDCAC audience favorite Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, as we preview the troupe’s Modern Masters program in July.

On tap are Yanis Eric Pikieris, who’s been nurtured by DDTM to become one of Miami’s most promising young choreographers; and Helen Simoneau, a Guggenheim Fellow making her first piece for DDTM whose work has been showcased at the American Dance Festival, Joyce Soho, Jacob’s Pillow and across the U.S., Asia, Canada and Europe. Dimensions co-directors Jennifer Kronenberg and Carlos Guerra will bring their usual warmth and spirit to the conversation.
