Go behind the scenes with Dimensions Dance Theatre’s popular salon series, where an intimate performance and conversation with the artists reveal the ‘ins and outs’ of the collaborative creative process. This fourth edition of the series features an advanced look at acclaimed young choreographer Kevin Jenkins’ DECO – Danzón of Eclectic Cultural Origin, a major DDTM commission to premiere at SMDCAC in the fall of 2020 funded by a prestigious Knight New Works grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.  Also featured on the program will be excerpts from “Preludes”, by choreographer Ariel Rose - another DDTM commission appearing on the SMDCAC main-stage in July. All three salon performances will include insightful discussions with Latin Grammy nominated composer/pianist Jorge Mejia, whose music is featured in “Preludes” and DECO’s choreographer Kevin Jenkins.

Tickets to Saturday night’s VIP performance include free admission to our post-performance “Meet the Artists” cocktail reception, where preview sketches of DECO’s scenic and costume designs by artists Edouard Duval Carrié and Andrea Spiridonakos will be on display for viewing.

Run time: 90 minutes

Appropriate for ages 7 and up. All patrons entering the theater require a ticket regardless of age. This includes children and infants. Senior, military and student discounts available. Contact the SMDCAC Box Office for details.
