This is highly advanced and specialized work requiring considerable independent decision-making in regard to administrative and supervisory production tasks necessary to operate the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC). Designed by world-renowned Arquitectonica International, Inc., the SMDCAC includes a 966 seat state-of-the-art Theater Building, a separate Activities Building, and an outdoor promenade leading to a gently sloping lawn for outdoor concerts and festivals along the Black Creek Canal. 

An employee in this class is responsible for leadership in providing event planning, event production and facility management, maintenance, labor payroll and administration of the SMDCAC. Incumbent provides schedules and supervises all backstage activity and must be responsible for delegating all technical responsibilities. Specific responsibilities include organizing, planning, and executing all aspects of each event to ensure that the event is implemented smoothly and completely; managing events by making decisions regarding technical emergencies, SMDCAC emergencies, safety, financial interests of the client (internally or externally), and/or financial interests of SMDCAC, MDCDCA, and Miami Dade County; overriding, accepting or rejecting production staging techniques described by department heads, presenters representatives, local organizations or guest artists; advancing performances as assigned, i.e., identifying technical needs, creating crew schedule, executing logistical details; overseeing activities related to the booking of events, enforcement of lease agreement requirements and facility maintenance and repair work. The incumbent exercises considerable independent judgment and technical expertise in the production management and administration of performing arts events. Supervision is exercised over a staff of union and non-union technical professionals and maintenance employees assigned to various phases of theater operations and/or maintenance. General supervision is received from the Operations Director of the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center who holds the incumbent responsible for the effective management of all SMDCAC events.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Theatre Production, General Theater, or a sufficient combination of equivalent training and experience.  Minimum of five years of responsible experience in production management, event management and theater maintenance of a performing arts facility or theater is required.
