Castles in the Air (World premiere)

RUTH, Ricordi per Due (Company Premiere)

Performance Notes
Esferas (9 min 30 sec)

Choreography by Ariel Rose
Music by Aleksey Igudesman, Alexander Balanescu, and Alex Barsnowski
Costumes by Patrick J. Design

Mayrel Martinez, Alexey Minkin, Fabian Morales

Commissioned for and developed through DDTM’s Lab Theater Intimate Salon Series at SMDCAC back in 2017, Esferas has become a staple in the company’s repertoire, and was included on the company programs for ts debuts at both The Joyce Theater in NYC and the Inside/Out Festival at Jacob’s Pillow. Ariel Rose’s original idea for this piece was to make three separate trios, each reflecting different dimensions or planes, and intersecting only across one elemental aspect or language. "As opposed to creating a trilogy, in which the movements show a progression or ascension, I wanted to present these trios like interlocked rings. While only really connected at singular points, they are linked together with incredible durability, just as the dancers have to be in mind, body, and spirit.” – Ariel Rose

Castles in the Air (14 min)

Choreography by Yanis Eric Pikieris
Music by Benjamin Britten, with violinist Anthony Seepersad
Costumes by Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami

Stephan Fons, Maikel Hernandez, Mayrel Martinez, Miranda Montes de Oca, Selah Oliver

Initially created for a film premiere in response to the pandemic, Yanis Eric has redeveloped this work for the stage.

RUTH, Ricordi per Due (9 min)

Choreography by Gerald Arpino
Music by Tomasso Albinnoni
Costumes by Maria Pinto, courtesy of Ballet West (Adam Sklute, Artistic Director)

Claudia Lezcano and Fabian Morales

*This performance of RUTH, Ricordi Per Due, an Arpino Ballet, is presented with permission of The Gerald Arpino Foundation and has been produced in accordance with the Foundation and service standards established and provided by the Foundation

An elegy, and the final work ever choreographed by Gerald Arpino. RUTH, Ricordi Per Due was commissioned and underwritten through a generous gift from Barbara Levy Kipper, in honor of her mother, Ruth Doctoroff Levy. With RUTH, Arpino “managed one of his most stirring ballets, one inextricable from his own late stage of life. A straightforward elegy, it features a man whose dead lover returns as a ghostly memory, splicing technique to humanism, his specialty. Simple and pure, it’s a poem of profound love and grief.” — Sid Smith, Chicago Tribune (as quoted from

Adiemus (27 min)

Choreography by Yanis Pikieris and David Palmer
Music by Karl Jenkins
Costumes courtesy of Rochester City Ballet (Robert Gardner, Artistic Director)

Amanda Del Valle, Stephan Fons, Maikel Hernandez, Meisy Laffitte, Claudia Lezcano, Mayrel Martinez, Alexey Minkin, Miranda Montes de Oca, Fabian Morales, Selah Oliver, Calista Olson, Yanis Eric Pikieris, Paulina Zambrana

*Originally premiered by Maximum Dance in 1998
The presentation and re-staging of Adiemus for Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami is made possible through a commission by South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs

"Swift and expressive, the dancers heralded joy like newly converted heathens letting their hallelujahs echo through a cathedral. Indeed, as reflected in the inspired music, there was a certain sanctity in this idyll. And the movement remained democratic, going through pairings that led to trios, quartets and quick solos before the ensemble, often in ebullient unison, leaped and swept on the hallowed ground. The thrill was contagious." - Guillermo Perez

Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami
Since the company’s inception in 2016, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami (DDTM) has been shaking up classical dance culture in South Florida and beyond. Founded by former Miami City Ballet leading principal couple, Carlos Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg, DDTM debuted to rousing critical acclaim, as a cutting edge, yet classically based contemporary ballet company.

Our young troupe continues to garner national recognition for a profound energy, athleticism, and electricity, as we offer audiences a vibrant and innovative ballet experience. Our collection of artists, paired with a bouquet of cultural collaborative pursuits, makes us especially unique in our distinct reflection of Miami and South Florida. In addition to an ongoing residency and partnership with South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, DDTM is an inaugural cohort member of South Arts’ Momentum program. The company has also graced the stages of both The Joyce Theater (Summer Ballet Festival 2018) and Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out Summer Dance Festival (2018, 2019). The company is also an annual participant in the International Ballet Festival of Miami. It is with great honor that Dimensions has recently furthered its mission to make world class dance accessible to all, by participating in The Kennedy Center’s “Arts Across America” live digital series, and by developing the DDTM @ Home gallery and digital platform.
